Accurate mapping of wetland habitat is crucial to ensure that this habitat is recognized and protected during land use planning and land management activities. The 10,000 Years Institute assisted the Washington Department of Natural Resources (DNR) and the Wetland Science Advisory Group (WetSAG) in developing options to update DNR’s wetland map layers and integrate information provided through forest practices applications.

These updates will also be of substantial use to county governments by providing data to support their critical areas ordinances and permitting processes.
